About the position

As a Senior Engineer, Instrumentation & Controls for our Global Facilities team at Micron Technology, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering system ownership and technical support for the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance programs of critical facilities systems. This position emphasizes global standardization and alignment, innovation, reliability, performance, and sustainability across our global manufacturing sites. You will be responsible for overseeing various facilities systems, including Instrumentation & Controls (I&C), Facility Management Control Systems (FMCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Life Safety Systems, Toxic Gas Monitoring, Telecom, and Security systems. Additionally, you will lead initiatives related to Facilities Digitalization and SMART Facilities programs. In this role, you will provide consultation and support to global, regional, and site facilities and manufacturing teams as the Technical Field Domain Expert. You will collaborate with internal partners, including the Technology Development Team, Procurement, Finance, and Legal, to analyze system designs and identify improvements that enhance performance, efficiency, and cost savings. Your responsibilities will also include benchmarking engineering best practices and maintaining technical knowledge in your subject area, including industry standards, trends, and technological advances. You will support the development of new large-scale facilities infrastructure expansion projects, ensuring that project scope meets customer needs and that designs comply with all standards and regulations. Your role will involve supervising progress during construction projects, providing engineering and design support, and leading global facilities sustainability programs in alignment with Micron's corporate sustainability goals. You will also be responsible for collecting and consolidating lessons learned from Micron teams to incorporate into standards and best-known methods (BKMs).

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering system ownership and technical support for planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of critical facilities systems.
  • Support global manufacturing sites with emphasis on global standardization, innovation, reliability, performance, and sustainability.
  • Own the Facilities Digitalization and SMART Facilities program initiatives.
  • Provide consultation and support as the Technical Field Domain Expert to global, regional, and site facilities and manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate with internal partners including Technology Development Team, Procurement, Finance, and Legal.
  • Analyze system designs to identify improvements for better performance, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
  • Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies.
  • Benchmark engineering best practices and maintain technical knowledge in respective subject area.
  • Support development for new large-scale facilities infrastructure expansion projects.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Micron Global Standards and Construction Specifications for respective systems.
  • Ensure project scope meets customer needs and ensure compliance with standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Supervise progress and provide engineering and design support during construction projects.
  • Lead and own programs and initiatives, including crafting program objectives and implementation plans.
  • Lead global facilities sustainability programs in support of Micron's corporate sustainability goals.
  • Collect and consolidate lessons learned and feedback from Micron teams to incorporate into standards and BKMs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Instrumentation & Controls required.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years experience in Semiconductor and/or Facilities related industry.
  • Technical expertise in Facilities and Semiconductor Mechanical and Process Systems including Cleanroom HVAC, Chilled Water, Heating Water, Makeup Air, Recirculation Air, Process Cooling Water, Process Exhaust, Compressed Air, Process Vacuum, General HVAC, Building and Fire Protection systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule workload and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Good organizational skills and service demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good team working skills, English required.
  • Self-motivated worker.
  • Familiarity with Semiconductor Manufacturing and Facilities systems.
  • Ability to travel internationally 15-25% of the time on average, up to 30% during critical project phases or site activities.
