As a Senior Hardware Development Engineer at Watlow, you will play a vital role in the development and redesign of hardware solutions for our diverse clientele spanning semiconductor, medical, food, energy, and environmental technologies. This dynamic role is not just about engineering; it's about building relationships, identifying opportunities for product redesigns and upgrades, designing and simulating circuits, ensuring product functionality, and coordinating with other functions to meet our customers' challenges. You will collaborate with teams to identify product improvement opportunities and utilize your electrical engineering expertise to design and simulate circuits that meet the technical specifications and performance criteria. Your responsibilities will also include working closely with the layout team to design printed circuit boards (PCBs) that are optimized for manufacturability and functionality. You will need to have an understanding of the relationship between hardware and firmware/software in a microcontroller/microprocessor electrical system. Utilizing systematic methods for the detection and/or prevention of potential design and/or process issues will be crucial, as will partnering with our manufacturing teams to ensure that the final product can be built to the highest quality standards and delivered on time. Additionally, you will develop and perform product test plans to validate hardware designs and generate comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and design specifications. Staying at the forefront of technology by actively researching and incorporating the latest advancements in hardware development will be part of your continuous improvement efforts. Finally, you will develop and nurture strong relationships with key customers both internal and external, ensuring that their needs are met effectively.
