About the position

The Senior Engineer role at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) focuses on leading network design, validation, deployment, maintenance, and operational support within the Network Engineering team. This position is critical in advancing ICE's extensive global financial network and involves managing both on-premise and cloud data center refreshes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and professionalism while working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, support and maintain mixed vendor network infrastructure
• Develop, document and publish architectural standards and designs
• Assist ICE staff with problem solving and escalation procedures
• Understand and follow operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same
• Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective, and efficient changes to the network infrastructure
• Assist with development of policies and procedures for maintaining network infrastructure
• Collaborate and work closely with all other IT teams
• Lead incident investigations, diagnosis, and service restoration and always give priority to the resolution of incidents
• Be a subject matter expert provide guidance to other Engineers (troubleshooting, design, on-boarding, risk mitigation, operational improvement)

Requirements

• In depth knowledge of general network principles and technology, and how to apply them in a service oriented mission critical environment
• Ability to lead technical projects from design through implementation and rollout
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Web Application Firewalls (WAF), deploying new rules and troubleshooting an existing policy set
• Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDN) migrating new applications or troubleshooting issues with existing applications routed through a CDN
• Proficient understanding of x509 SSL certificates and code signing certificates
• Experience configuring network load balancer virtual servers, pools, rules, etc.
• Strong knowledge and experience developing in Python
• Experience using Restful APIs
• Proficient with GIT for software collaboration and version control
• Running and analyzing sniffer traces with deep TCP/IP protocol understanding
• Basic Unix/Linux system administration
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Excellent customer service attitude
• Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with Cloudflare or Akamai CDN's
• F5, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto advanced certification
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering or related field
