About the position

The Senior Nuclear Plant Engineer position at Westinghouse is a pivotal role within the Plant Engineering group of the Global Engineering Services organization. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about contributing to clean energy solutions and are eager to work in a collaborative and innovative environment. The role requires a hybrid work model, necessitating two days per week on-site at one of the Westinghouse facilities located in Cranberry, PA, or Rock Hill, SC. In this role, you will be involved in a variety of critical tasks that include nuclear plant site layout, equipment, piping, and HVAC layout, as well as conducting seismic interaction assessments and internal/external missile assessments. You will also engage in the design of fuel handling and material handling equipment, perform commodity clearance evaluations, and conduct flooding evaluations along with other hazard protection assessments. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain broad-ranging experience in advanced nuclear plant designs, focusing on the interfaces between systems, equipment, structures, and the overall physical arrangement of the plant. Your daily responsibilities will include planning tasks and scheduling work for specific activities, providing technical oversight, and conducting technical reviews of work products. You will be expected to maintain a strong questioning attitude, challenge assumptions, and ensure technical coordination among various functional areas to prevent conflicts. Additionally, you will lead responses to requests for additional information from both internal and external customers and will be responsible for effectively communicating and presenting related tasks to these stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Structural/Architectural or Mechanical Engineer)
  • 4-10 years of experience
  • Experience in the use of 3D modeling software to assess physical equipment arrangements and develop site layout plot plans
  • Strong visual and spatial design skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and program management skills
  • Highly motivated with a desire to learn and continually develop
