About the position

The Senior Engineer/Project Manager in the Water Environment Market at Gresham Smith is responsible for leading and managing projects related to water, wastewater, stormwater, and treatment. This role requires a combination of engineering expertise and project management skills to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions that meet client expectations and regulatory standards. Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design expertise for projects relating to water, wastewater, stormwater/conveyance, and treatment projects.
  • Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Manage all aspects of project management including client management, project scope development, planning, and financial management.
  • Maintain healthy client relationships and drive project execution and deliverables.
  • Communicate project goals clearly to project teams to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Lead project staff, prepare work schedules, and assign specific duties.
  • Oversee the production of plans and specifications for municipal water treatment and water reclamation facilities.
  • Provide senior-level technical expertise through the Technical Leadership Program for water and wastewater projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water, wastewater, stormwater/conveyance, and treatment projects in a consultant capacity.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and water/sewer modeling software.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, Deltek Vantagepoint, and Power BI software.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and local/state design codes and standards.
  • Proven experience in developing project plans and leading client meetings.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with large pump station or lift station projects.
