About the position

The Senior Engineer/Project Manager in the Water Environment Market at Gresham Smith is responsible for leading engineering and project management efforts related to water, wastewater, stormwater, and treatment projects. This role involves providing technical expertise, managing client relationships, and ensuring project deliverables meet client expectations while maintaining a work-life balance. The position requires a strong background in engineering principles and project management, with a focus on improving essential infrastructure for communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design expertise for projects relating to water, wastewater, stormwater/conveyance, and treatment projects.
  • Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Manage all aspects of project management including client management, project scope development, planning, organizing, change management, and financial management.
  • Maintain healthy client relationships and drive projects to execute deliverables.
  • Communicate project goals clearly to project teams to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Lead project staff, prepare work schedules, and assign specific duties.
  • Oversee the production of plans and specifications for design projects for municipal water treatment and water reclamation facilities.
  • Provide senior-level technical expertise through the Technical Leadership Program for water and wastewater aspects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water, wastewater, stormwater/conveyance, and treatment projects in a consultant capacity.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and water/sewer modeling software.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, Deltek Vantagepoint, and Power BI software.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, local and state design codes and standards.
  • Proven experience in developing project plans and leading meetings with clients.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with large pump station or lift station projects.
