About the position

The Senior Engineer position at McLaren Engineering Group is a pivotal role within the Structures Division, which is known for its collaborative and innovative approach to engineering. This division is dedicated to meeting client goals through a diverse range of projects, including multi-family wood-framed mid-rise buildings, low-rise and mid-rise commercial structural steel buildings, specialty structures, construction engineering, waterfront structures, entertainment venues, and forensic analysis. The firm emphasizes a comprehensive exposure to various technical areas, allowing engineers to engage in the full design process and continue into the construction phase, thereby maximizing their potential and growth within the company. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis on various building elements and systems, which include reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood, and aluminum, under both gravity and lateral loading conditions. You will serve as the engineer in responsible charge for assigned projects, coordinating structural designs with architectural and MEP trades. Your leadership will extend to organizing and preparing structural plans and specifications for construction documents, guiding staff engineers through the design process from schematic design to project completion. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will play a crucial role in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) by reviewing project work performed by staff engineers, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Your professional development will be supported through attendance at technical seminars and networking events, while you also help foster new client contacts and maintain existing relationships. Mentorship of junior engineers will be a key aspect of your role, as you assist in their technical and professional development. You will also be involved in reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits during the construction phase, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project duration while monitoring project budgets and tracking change orders.
