About the position

The State Water Resources Control Board's Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a Senior Engineering Geologist in the Cleanup Fund. The position is located at 801 K Street, Sacramento CA, 95814 right in the heart of downtown close to light rail stations, other public transportation, awesome restaurants, and more. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a high-profile role to help California communities address water quality issues. Responsibilities

  • Supervises, directs, and monitors technical staff implementing the Expedited Cleanup Account Program (ECAP).
  • Reviews address identification of Low-Threat Underground Storage Tank Case Closure Policy criteria.
  • Develops site-specific work scopes needed for case closure, including investigation, design, and operation of remediation systems.
  • Prepares cost estimates for work, budget change requests, and reimbursement requests for corrective action costs.
  • Coordinates closely with other managers and staff in the Cleanup Fund Branch.
  • Provides timely and professional assistance to the public, stakeholders, internal staff, and external agencies.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
  • Must have a Professional Geologist (PG) license.
  • Must have Senior Engineering Geologist list, transfer, or reinstatement eligibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading a team, including development and implementation of project schedules and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, teams, and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of soil and groundwater contamination characterization and remediation.
  • Knowledge of State or federal local assistance programs and management of financial assistance agreements.
