The Senior Manager at Compass will serve as the primary technical leader in the domain of artificial intelligence and machine learning, guiding the AI engineering team to enhance the home buying and selling experience. Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical and strategic direction of Compass AI/ML innovation.
  • Champion innovation initiatives and collaborate with product and design leaders.
  • Recruit, onboard, and nurture top engineering talent.
  • Provide oversight to Software Engineers, ML Engineers, and ML scientists.
  • Cultivate a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and creativity.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in AI/ML.
  • Advocate for high standards of operational excellence in development processes.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the development process.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team and individual performance.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering management experience in a medium or large company.
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience, with a focus on AI and ML.
  • Ability to think strategically and align technical decisions with business goals.
  • Proven experience in rapidly hiring and nurturing engineers.
  • Demonstrated organizational capabilities in collaboration and communication.
  • Passion for operational excellence best practices.
  • Track record of driving innovation and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in performance management processes.
  • Dedication to continuous learning and self-improvement.
