About the position

The Senior Engineering Manager for the Consumer Machine Learning team at DoorDash will lead the development of end-to-end machine learning products that enhance the shopping experience for consumers, merchants, and DoorDash itself. This role involves defining the machine learning and AI strategy for the company and overseeing a team of skilled engineers and managers to implement innovative solutions across various applications such as homepage recommendations, search relevance, and intelligent notifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of exceptional machine learning engineers and managers.
• Build end-to-end ML products across homepage recommendation and ranking, search relevance and quality, and intelligent notifications.
• Leverage cutting-edge LLM and Deep Learning technologies to enhance DoorDash's ML stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define consumer product, business, and technology strategy.
• Encourage innovation and teamwork while implementing cutting-edge technologies.
• Coach and empower engineers and managers through delegation and technical expertise.
• Develop internal talent and attract top external talent to scale the team.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 10+ years of industry experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
• Broad machine learning knowledge with a strong ML modeling foundation.
• Extensive experience in leading recommendation, ranking, search, or equivalent ML teams building consumer-facing products.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with teams across various disciplines.
• Ability to guide and grow excellent engineering teams in a rapidly changing business environment.
