About the position

As a Senior Engineering Manager in DoorDash's Core Data Platform organization, you will be responsible for the long-term technical roadmap and guiding the engineering team in making critical technical decisions. This role involves mentoring senior engineers, managing build vs buy strategies, and collaborating with leading data vendors. You will drive the vision and strategy for building a robust Core Data Platform to support the company's rapid growth, ensuring high reliability and quality of data products.

Responsibilities

• Drive vision & strategy for building the Core Data Platform.
• Lead a successful team through coaching, mentoring, and providing technical guidance.
• Build and sustain a diverse team to meet organizational needs.
• Develop data-intensive solutions for various users across the company.
• Drive and deliver the ongoing product vision of data products.
• Set architectural patterns and handle build vs buy decisions.
• Foster cross-collaboration with stakeholders and external partners.
• Continuously improve data architecture and development processes.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 10+ years of industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience in an engineering management role.
• Extensive experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
• Experience with large scale data systems and technologies such as Apache Spark, Airflow, Trino, Pinot, Flink, Kafka, Snowflake, and Databricks.

• Familiarity with data quality and reliability frameworks.
