About the position

The position involves leading a cross-functional team of software engineers in the Secure Processing Solutions Engineering department, focusing on developing innovative cryptographic capabilities for U.S. military communications products. Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional team of software engineers to develop innovative, mission-critical products.
  • Oversee initiatives focused on quantum-resistant encryption algorithms.
  • Cultivate a collaborative team culture to ensure predictable program performance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including customers and senior leadership.
  • Enhance team capabilities through mentoring and career development.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Collins' Crypto product line.
  • Gain insights into supporting armed services against near-peer threats.
  • Develop leadership skills in emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience, or 14 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading engineering teams through project leadership roles or direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in software development and integration, particularly with complex multi-threaded embedded C and C++ codebases.
  • Familiarity with standard full-lifecycle software development practices and configuration management tools.
  • Knowledge of requirements capture, design formulation, algorithm development, and implementation.
  • Experience creating documentation and artifacts to support the certification of cryptographic systems and components.
  • Understanding of Information Assurance and cybersecurity industry standards and best practices.
