Our Senior Engineering Manager is an engineering leader who works with the data engineering staff to innovate and build a high performing open-source solution that seamlessly integrates with our various applications within our ecosystem. A Senior Engineering Manager will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate will define a strategy for adoption of all our new data quality services. You will partner and work closely with the Enterprise Data Governance, Product, and Business teams to ensure that the platform supports the needs of our governance initiatives. As a Senior Manager, you will work with your Director to address project dependencies, negotiate and estimate incremental delivery dates for milestones with the stakeholder community, and deliver projects on time. You will identify and raise appropriate project risks, in addition to presenting detailed and implementable solutions or alternatives. Understanding how requirements and design choices may impact systems across multiple areas is crucial. You will report on your team's progress for project and other key metrics, in addition to presenting detailed and implementable ideas for areas to further improve or influence product or project delivery. You will initiate and support performance evaluation of team members, cultivating a culture that motivates all levels of performers to higher levels of achievement. Building and maintaining relationships with your team members to support an environment of trust is essential. You will influence those you motivate and coach to be receptive to feedback by cultivating a culture that acknowledges and expects individuals to grow and be accountable as a result of the experience gained (growth mindset). Identifying where technical or analytical skill gaps put future team deliverables at risk and crafting a plan to remediate is part of your role, as is consistently challenging team members to share knowledge and learn new technologies. You will proficiently execute difficult conversations on development and performance, craft and deliver strategic and well-structured persuasive arguments to drive projects that enhance cost leadership and customer experience, and manage up to leadership while giving feedback when appropriate. Administering coaching plans and Performance Improvement Plans, crafting fully compliant quality documentation, and compliant negotiation and execution of warning administration and/or involuntary termination are also part of your responsibilities. You will develop the team budget and be accountable for reporting on results achieved at regular intervals, significantly contributing to the team planning process to include surfacing associate level proposals. Leading people, products, and process while being a thought leader to innovate how we transform into a data-driven organization is key. You will demonstrate strategic thinking and strong planning skills to establish a long-term roadmap and business plan, and build strong relationships with tech teams and business partners. You should be able to work independently while functioning as part of a cohesive cross-functional management team, coach, develop, and manage associates and supervisors, including establishing goals and evaluating performance. Empowering your team by fostering a culture that allows critical thinking and open communication is essential, as is working with stakeholders to establish and meet data quality requirements, SLAs, and SLOs for data ingestion. You may be required to be on call for production support 24x7.
