About the position

The Senior Engineering Manager for Knowledge Based Systems (KBS) at AMERICAN SYSTEMS is a mission-driven role focused on providing engineering expertise and leadership in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD). This position requires an active Secret clearance and approximately 20 years of experience in engineering management, particularly in naval architecture and engineering for surface ships and submarines. The role emphasizes project management, research and development, and technical support for various marine platforms, contributing to national defense efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provide Senior Engineering expertise and leadership in acquisition of engineering and technical Knowledge Based Services (KBS) in support of NSWCCD.
• Support research, design, development, test and evaluation, and operational assessment of marine platforms.
• Lead engineering duties in project management, electronic document library, and programmatic support.
• Oversee research and development support, hydrodynamics and aerodynamics engineering, and systems engineering support.
• Manage design documentation, technical data support, and T&E support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Marine, or Naval Architecture.
• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Approximately 20 years of experience in planning, directing, and coordinating engineering programs for military services.
• Experience in researching, developing, testing, and evaluating platforms and systems.
• Supervisory experience with technical staff in multidisciplinary design and development.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) technology.
• Familiarity with engineering design trade-off analyses.
