About the position

Skydio is seeking a leader for its software infrastructure team, focusing on scaling manufacturing processes for drones. This role involves overseeing the development of software that tracks parts history, ensuring quality assurance and efficient testing for products. The position requires collaboration across various technical domains, including backend, embedded software, frontend, and electrical engineering, to enhance the architecture and capabilities of the manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the software infrastructure team to scale manufacturing processes for drones.
• Architect next-generation production systems to support multiple factories and contract manufacturers.
• Design secure and efficient software for real-time and historical data management.
• Establish processes and tooling for predictable and maintainable code in testing.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability and scalability of production processes.
• Add best practices and style guides for low-level APIs and tests.

Requirements

• 8-12 years of experience in software engineering, preferably in hardware-software systems.
• Strong coding skills in Python, C++, or Java (similar OOP languages).
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Experience managing small, high-performing teams in a cross-functional environment.
• Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous situations and build consensus.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with containerized Linux systems and cloud services (AWS).
• Familiarity with Hardware-In-the-Loop testing systems.
• Interest in manufacturing processes and automation.
