About the position

Atlassian is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team, where you will play a pivotal role in guiding a group of engineers in a fully remote environment. This position allows you to work from anywhere in the US, provided you are in a US Time Zone. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for making technical decisions for production services, prioritizing and organizing the team's work, and providing mentorship and career growth opportunities for your team members. You will manage a team of 10-18 engineers within an end Software Engineering Team, collaborating closely with design and product management counterparts to create user journeys that enhance the experience of our future customers. In this role, you will be part of a unified R&D team that is focused on key initiatives to support our customers' transition to the cloud while continuing to deliver value through our core product suite, which includes Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Bitbucket. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about innovation and operational excellence, and who believe in the power of teamwork to achieve greater outcomes. You will inspire your team, own the delivery of critical projects in a microservices environment, and serve as the engineering voice in our quarterly planning process. Your leadership will help build a culture of trust and operational maturity, and you will participate in hiring and budgeting exercises while driving technical discussions and decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing software engineers.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with internal customers.
  • Experience implementing dev-ops best practices.
  • Familiarity with public-facing high traffic e-commerce websites.
