We are currently seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our new engineering team in the US region. Reporting directly to the CTO, the ideal candidate will be comfortable leading a new team, hiring great engineering talent as we expand, and partnering with the product organization to build a robust roadmap. This role is hybrid on-site in Seattle, WA. However, RentSpree has a significant engineering presence in Thailand, and the candidate will be expected to work closely with their peers in both regions.
Responsibilities
- Drive a team of talented engineers to success, leading 7+ direct reports in a fast-moving product delivery team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and marketing, to define and execute the product roadmap
- Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team
- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of existing systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance
- Contribute to the strategic planning of the engineering department, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform decision-making and technology adoption
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in software development across both startups and large tech companies
- 3+ years of engineering management experience
- Strong technical skills in modern programming languages and frameworks (backend and/or fullstack; we work in Kotlin, TypeScript, and React)
- Demonstrated experience in leading and influencing teams of 5-10+ engineers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies and architectures
- Experience in building scalable, high-availability systems, with a focus on simplicity and security
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
