About the position

As a Senior Engineering Program Manager for AI & Data Platforms at Apple, you will play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of critical projects within the Global Business Intelligence (GBI) organization. This team is responsible for managing Apple's enterprise data warehouse, which encompasses petabytes of data and processes billions of rows to provide actionable insights that inform business decisions. Your work will involve leveraging a diverse technology stack, including Snowflake, HANA, and SingleStore, to design, innovate, and deliver solutions that enhance data analytics capabilities across various Apple business groups. In this position, you will oversee project management for large, cross-functional initiatives, ensuring that all aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC) are effectively managed. This includes defining project scopes, scheduling, prioritizing tasks, tracking progress, and communicating status updates to stakeholders. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, facilitating brainstorming sessions and design reviews to ensure that all functionalities and features are well understood and implemented. Your ability to identify and mitigate risks, remove roadblocks, and foster communication between teams will be essential to the success of the projects you manage. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the project roadmap, overseeing resource capacity and funding at the portfolio level, and implementing project governance frameworks. Your leadership will be crucial in developing new processes and ideas, particularly in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and critical thinking are key to driving impactful change.

Responsibilities

  • Drive project management for large, cross-functional initiatives within the GBI organization.
  • Define, schedule, prioritize, track, measure, and communicate project status throughout the SDLC.
  • Lead efforts across teams representing multiple layers of the technology stack and other cross-functional partners.
  • Facilitate requirements brainstorming and design review sessions with internal and external partners.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, remove roadblocks, and facilitate communication between teams.
  • Maintain project roadmap and provide oversight on resource capacity and funding at the portfolio level.
  • Roll out project framework and governance to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Develop new processes and ideas to enhance project management practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on engineering project management experience in Business Intelligence/Data Engineering/Analytics areas.
  • Experience in various project methodologies and processes, including Waterfall, Change Management, and Agile/Scrum.
  • Proven track record managing large and complex cross-functional programs.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, curious, and proactive with demonstrated critical thinking capability.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to distill and present information for the right audience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of SAP and data warehouse systems.
  • Prior experience with large-scale system migration projects.
