About the position

The Senior Engineering Project Manager - Civil and Structural position at Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed is a critical role that involves providing project management, guidance, methodology, and leadership for capital projects with a budget scope exceeding $25 million. This position is primarily remote, but the individual will be required to frequently travel to Bryan, TX, for a significant greenfield project currently underway. The ideal candidate should reside within a commutable distance to Bryan, TX, to facilitate this requirement. In this role, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to the defined scope. This includes developing necessary project safety systems and procedures in collaboration with Saint-Gobain EHS teams to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and the company's EHS standards, aiming for zero accidents. The project manager will follow the Saint-Gobain TIP Project Execution Manual, guiding projects from initiation to completion while ensuring all project tasks align with company policies and procedures. The position requires effective leadership and communication skills to liaise with various internal stakeholders, including project sponsors and the Project Management Office Manager, as well as external suppliers and contractors. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for conflict management and coordinating the recruitment of the local project team in collaboration with HR and Talent Acquisition. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all project members work cohesively and effectively towards the project's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management and leadership for capital projects with budgets over $25M.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects while meeting performance criteria and budget constraints.
  • Develop project safety systems and procedures in collaboration with EHS teams to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Follow the Saint-Gobain TIP Project Execution Manual for project execution from Step 0 to Step 7.
  • Ensure all project tasks align with company policies and procedures, including Capex Manual and Loss Prevention Manual.
  • Liaise with project sponsors to establish project needs and define business requirements.
  • Report and present project updates to the Director of Engineering and Business Steering Committee.
  • Negotiate quotes with suppliers and contractors to ensure project scope and execution meet expectations.
  • Manage conflicts and coordinate all parties involved in the project.
  • Coordinate recruitment of the local project team with HR and Talent Acquisition.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred; Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering degrees considered with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a project manager on large/medium size projects.
  • 10 years of experience in large construction greenfield or brownfield projects.
  • Civil experience and steel erection experience are essential.
  • Project Management qualification or working towards one is required.
  • Site management experience on multiple projects as a project manager is necessary.
  • Proven track record in project management methodology.
  • Ability to influence key senior stakeholders in the business.
  • Understanding of cultural differences and ability to adapt behavior to engage with cross-cultural teams.
