About the position

The Senior Engineering Project Manager (EPM) at Apple plays a crucial role in delivering impactful customer experiences by bridging teams and driving cross-functional collaboration. This position focuses on managing large-scale initiatives for the Swift Language Team, which is responsible for evolving the Swift programming language. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, along with a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with engineering and product to define and deliver project roadmaps, schedules, and milestones
  • Authoritatively presenting project status to multi-functional teams as well as executive management
  • Offering cross-functional management for Swift, interacting with adopting teams to ensure responsiveness to critical priorities
  • Working independently and proactively to positively influence other teams to drive project outcomes
  • Operating internal tools and bug tracking software to make quantitative assessments on project progress and update plans as needed

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in project/program management of software development
  • Strong technical intuition and understanding of basic engineering concepts
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound executive presence with the ability to communicate at senior leadership levels
  • Resilience and interest in complex problem-solving
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically and to build consensus
  • Proven ability to implement project management principles including planning and organization, risk management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and problem solving

Nice-to-haves

  • Software or hardware release management experience at a large scale
  • Knowledge of operating systems, compilers, integrated development environments and other developer tools
  • Experience working with developers, open-source communities, or technical users to gather feedback and drive product improvements
