About the position

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join our team in Raynham, MA. This position is pivotal in proving out new products and equipment for the Global Development Center, specifically in support of network orthopedic projects. The Senior Engineering Technician will play a crucial role in the company's strategic growth plans, contributing to the development of innovative healthcare solutions that aim to prevent, treat, and cure complex diseases. In this position, the Senior Engineering Technician will be responsible for programming, setting up, and running prototypes, engineering studies, and machine products or samples. This work will support validations and verifications on various equipment, including CNC milling centers, swiss lathes, laser engravers, metal finishing, and machine vision equipment. The technician will also provide technical guidance on tooling, work holding, fixture, and gauging development across a wide range of products and processes, collaborating closely with core teams and network partners. Additionally, the role involves delivering production-ready machine process programs, tooling packages, and work holding designs to internal partners, ensuring that all outputs meet the required standards for quality and efficiency. The Senior Engineering Technician will also influence and support strategic projects aimed at cycle time improvements and various process equipment transfers, making this a dynamic and impactful role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set-up, and run prototypes, engineering studies, and machine products or samples to support validations/verifications on various equipment including CNC milling centers, swiss lathes, laser engravers, metal finishing & machine vision equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance on tooling, work holding, fixture & gauging development on a wide range of products and processes to core team and network partners.
  • Deliver production ready machine process programs, tooling packages, and work holding designs to internal partners.
  • Influence and support strategic projects for cycle time improvements and various process equipment transfers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required; a certificate from a Vocational School, Associate's Degree, or Technical School or higher is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years related work experience in a regulated medical manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in programming, set-up, and operation of CNC machines and tooling.
  • Previous experience in a regulated medical industry or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings (blueprints) and models for product and process development.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-based environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to deliver results under minimal direction.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required.

  • Prior experience in the orthopedics industry.
