About the position

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer for their Parsippany, NJ office. This role involves performing various environmental engineering tasks related to navigation channel maintenance dredging operations, including coastal restoration, stormwater management, and environmental permitting. The engineer will work independently and as part of a team, coordinating field inspections and technical work while ensuring effective communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Assigns tasks to engineers, scientists, technicians or administrative staff.
• Interaction with the client in the field, at meetings, and on conference calls.
• Plans and coordinates aspects of work.
• Prepares and manages scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
• Assists with proposals to provide professional services.
• Work with design team across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
• Meet client deadlines and project budgets.
• Meets project, client and regulatory deadlines.
• Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.

Requirements

• BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience.
• PE (NJ, NY, PA) preferred.
• OSHA 40-hr certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with basic MS Office software.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and GIS software.
• Knowledge/experience with PondPack, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of NJDEP, NYSDEC, NYCDEP and/or PADEP requirements a plus.
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, bridge scour analysis, stormwater management, roadway drainage design for transportation-related projects is strongly desirable.
• Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling desired.
