About the position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our Industrial Remediation Practices group. This role focuses on supporting remediation system design and operations, conducting soil and groundwater investigations, and managing remediation projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with engineers and scientists. Excellent communication skills are essential for interfacing with clients and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Support remediation system design and operations.
  • Conduct soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects.
  • Provide engineering and design support for industrial and municipal remediation projects.
  • Develop and coordinate field oversight of pre-design investigations.
  • Design remedial technologies for water and wastewater systems.
  • Conduct investigations related to PFAS, including environmental media sampling and water quality evaluations.
  • Support remedial design and implementation, including construction support and permitting.
  • Evaluate treatment performance and develop operation and maintenance plans.
  • Analyze data and prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
  • Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
  • Interface with clients and regulatory agencies to prepare reports.
  • Plan and manage environmental field work, including oversight of subcontractors.
  • Support project managers with budgeting, scheduling, and scope development.
  • Assist in business development activities, including proposal writing and site visits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in environmental engineering or remediation.
  • Direct experience with PFAS.
  • FE or EIT certification required.
  • US citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental consulting and remediation system design.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
