About the position

The Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager at Trex Company is responsible for leading and directing EHS activities within plant locations, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate policies. This role emphasizes safety as the top priority and involves developing, managing, and leading EHS programs to enhance safety awareness. The Senior EHS Manager will also manage a team of EHS specialists and coordinators, oversee environmental activities, and maintain sustainability programs.

Responsibilities

  • Put safety first - always.
  • Lead and foster a 'people first' culture.
  • Audit safety procedures and processes to maintain compliance.
  • Manage industrial hygiene programs.
  • Develop, manage, and lead environmental activities to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Develop, manage, and lead the Site Safety Committee, Emergency Response Team, and Industrial Fire Brigade.
  • Manage and coordinate site insurance loss control and workers' compensation insurance providers.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety activities at the corporate level including field sales and purchasing representatives.
  • Prepare and manage the annual EHS budget.
  • Maintain an active and effective sustainability and cost-savings program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of EH&S experience with a minimum of 8 years in an EH&S management role in a complex 24/7/365 manufacturing environment OR 15 years of EH&S experience with a minimum of 10 years in an EH&S management role in a 24/7/365 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA, EPA rules, regulations, and compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASP/CSP/CIH/CHMM/ARM certifications.
  • Experience on a multi-building site.
  • Environmental management experience including air, water, and waste permits, testing, regulated waste disposal, and compliance.
