About the position

The Senior Environmental Permitting Lead at Stantec is a strategic leadership role focused on building an Environmental Permitting practice in Massachusetts and surrounding New England areas. The successful candidate will engage in business development, maintain client relationships, and provide regulatory expertise while overseeing various environmental projects. This position involves mentoring staff, developing proposals, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on projects and thought leadership on solutions to environmental challenges for energy and other infrastructure projects
  • Lead teams in collecting and reporting tasks including wetland delineations and natural resource-focused surveys
  • Coordinate, oversee, and prepare permit applications for various environmental regulations
  • Develop proposal strategies and collaborate with a broader proposal team
  • Partner with engineering and design teams to deliver successful energy projects
  • Lead business development initiatives with new and existing clients
  • Deliver high-quality service on client projects
  • Communicate data collection methods and results to clients, regulators, and the public
  • Recruit, mentor, and support the professional development of staff

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in environmental consulting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse project teams and manage large complex projects
  • Experience with local, state, and federal environmental permitting in Massachusetts
  • Experience managing permitting applications and projects from start to finish
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including advanced technical writing abilities
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and other written materials
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams and interact with clients and stakeholders

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geology, or a related field
  • Certification as Professional Wetland Scientist
