About the position

AECOM is seeking a Senior-level Environmental Planning professional to join the Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team in Southern California. This hybrid role involves leading project teams and collaborating with environmental planning practitioners to prepare environmental documents, focusing on permitting and entitlement work for renewable energy projects. The position requires managing clients, project teams, and complex projects while contributing to business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee management and preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents.
  • Manage early-stage due diligence efforts for siting renewable energy projects.
  • Project management on mid- to large-sized projects, including developing and tracking project schedules and budgets.
  • Work on environmental documents related to high profile infrastructure projects, particularly renewable energy and electric transmission projects.
  • Support clients with their entitlement needs for renewable energy applications.
  • Oversee the work of early career staff and mentor others.
  • Act as a quality verifier for technical work products.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development, including proposal preparation and cost estimates.
  • Attend and present at project and public meetings, preparing meeting materials and compiling results.
  • Interpret and apply applicable government codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Conduct site visits and attend occasional evening and/or weekend meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental science, or related field.
  • 6 years of relevant experience in managing and preparing CEQA and NEPA documents.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in urban planning, environmental science, or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience managing and preparing CEQA and NEPA documentation.
  • Experience with electric transmission and renewable energy projects.
  • Experience as Project Manager on environmental planning and permitting projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
