The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Environmental team is seeking a seasoned Senior Environmental Program Manager to oversee all environmental requirements during the development of datacenters and infrastructure across the Americas. This pivotal role will be a senior member of the Environmental Infrastructure Development team, focusing on the expansion of AWS datacenters, particularly in the Eastern United States. The Environmental PM will collaborate with various AWS stakeholders to formulate regional and site-specific development strategies that facilitate the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure. In this role, you will lead environmental due diligence for site selection and acquisition, devise and implement regional and site-specific environmental permitting strategies, ensure environmental compliance during the design and construction phases, and prepare for operational compliance. Regular engagement with multiple AWS stakeholders—including environmental compliance, real estate, risk management, water resources, design, public policy, community relations, construction, and operations teams—is essential. Additionally, you will interact with external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors, coordinating with internal and external legal counsel on site acquisition, permitting, and regulatory compliance risks while supporting the development of contractual environmental obligations. A successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of managing multiple high-priority projects with stringent timelines, necessitating strong communication with partner teams, external consultants, and regulatory agencies. A comprehensive understanding of multi-media environmental permitting, remediation, and compliance requirements associated with large-scale infrastructure projects is crucial, along with experience in Clean Water Act (CWA) 404 and NPDES permitting in the eastern United States.
