About the position

We are seeking an experienced sediment scientist or engineer to participate in complex sediment remediation projects for both federal and private clients. This position allows for flexible location and hybrid work arrangements, enabling you to work on sediment projects across the country while delivering projects through the full lifecycle with a strong focus on sediment investigation, feasibility, and remedial design. Responsibilities

  • Participate in complex sediment remediation projects for federal and private clients.
  • Deliver projects through the full lifecycle with a focus on sediment investigation, feasibility, and remedial design.
  • Interact with key clients to grow the business and develop comprehensive site strategies.
  • Spearhead technical strategies and manage technical tasks.
  • Engage with clients, senior technical consultants, and subject matter experts.
  • Mentor staff and provide guidance on sediment remediation practices.
  • Drive consistency and innovation across sediment remediation projects to achieve client goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology, environmental science, or a closely related technical degree.
  • At least 10 years of broad, practical field experience on sediment remediation sites in fresh and estuarine systems.
  • Experience conducting and developing reports for sediment site investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, and remedial designs/actions.
  • Experience integrating information from multiple disciplines such as human health and ecological risk assessment, statistics, and chemistry.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve key issues impacting sediment sites, including technical, regulatory, risks, and land use.
  • Strong strategic thinking and critical analysis skills to gather, analyze, and synthesize data for defensible conclusions and sound recommendations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with contractors, team members, regulatory agencies, and clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification or the ability to obtain and maintain it.
  • Experience representing clients to stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, property owners, government officials, and other consultants.
  • Experience as a Subject Matter Expert, Senior Technical Consultant, and/or Project/Task Manager for sediment projects.
  • Ability to interface with in-house environmental data visualization and GIS staff to develop effective data presentations.
