About the position

GHD is seeking a Technical Director/Senior Project Manager to join their Midwest Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) Group, based in Chicago or Detroit. This role involves leading complex environmental investigations and remediation projects, ensuring client satisfaction while adhering to safety, scope, schedule, and budget requirements. The position offers a hybrid work environment and requires a self-motivated professional with strong technical skills and regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex problem-solving efforts related to environmental investigations and remediations.
• Maintain a high external profile through industry organization memberships and networking.
• Lead proposal development and contract negotiations to secure targeted projects.
• Provide technical project management and direction, ensuring client satisfaction and project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Oversee and mentor a high-functioning team specializing in contaminated site investigation and remediation.
• Prepare regulatory work plans and reports for investigation, remediation, and closure.
• Develop efficient technical and regulatory strategies to meet client compliance needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or Advanced degree in Applied Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation.
• Solid understanding of U.S. EPA regulations and State environmental regulations for Midwestern states.
• Experience with preparing regulatory work plans and reports for environmental projects.
• Proven project and client management skills.
• Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.

• Professional Designation/License (Engineer, Geologist, etc.)
• OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.
