About the position

KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. is seeking a Senior Equity Research Associate to join their Equity Research team in New York. This role involves collaborating with senior analysts to conduct industry analysis and provide coverage for the Utilities, Electric Power, and Renewable Energy sectors. The associate will be responsible for synthesizing information, analyzing financial data, and communicating insights to clients and management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Developing expertise in the Utilities, Electric Power, and Renewable Energy sectors.
  • Writing research notes and synthesizing key information relative to industry standards.
  • Analyzing financial statements, SEC documents, and relevant data.
  • Building and maintaining earnings models and understanding revenue drivers.
  • Engaging with internal and external clients and industry contacts about stocks and sectors.
  • Collecting and evaluating statistical and financial data on the economy and financial markets.
  • Formulating and issuing opinions and recommendations on securities and companies.
  • Preparing reports, opinions, and statistical data for investment policies and recommendations.
  • Answering inquiries regarding individual securities or industry groups.
  • Preparing and disseminating special studies, models, forecasts, and presentations for security offerings.
  • Interviewing company executives or industry leaders for information preparation.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting, finance, quantitative, and business writing/communication skills.
  • Modeling, forecasting, and valuation experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel and a strong academic record.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in investment banking, equity research, or another analytical role.
  • Interest in research and the stock market.
  • Experience in the Electric Power industry (IPP or utility experience, ISO/RTO) is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of FINRA Series 7, 63, 86, 87 licenses is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $85,000 to $150,000 annually based on experience and qualifications.
  • Eligibility for short-term incentive compensation.
  • Deferred incentive compensation based on individual and company performance.
