About the position

The Senior Estimator will play a crucial role in expanding the company's market share in Hawaii, particularly in the mechanical contracting sector. This position involves leading the estimating department, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality customer service. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in plumbing and mechanical systems, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to building long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen market share across all counties in Hawaii.
• Review solicitations and vet opportunities for strategic advantages.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings to survey existing conditions.
• Develop project execution strategies aligning estimates with proposals and schedules.
• Perform quantitative take-offs for HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for proposals.
• Develop estimates and proposals that leverage market advantages.
• Lead final bid closings with executive-level personnel.
• Establish and maintain customer relationships based on trust and service.
• Participate in post-project review meetings to reconcile estimated vs actual costs.

Requirements

• BS or BA degree preferred in Business or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of experience in plumbing and mechanical contracting.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Experience leading an estimating team of 3 or more employees.
• Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Windows Suite and Bluebeam Review.

Nice-to-haves

• Membership in MCAA, DBIA, and ASHRAE is desired.
• Experience with Onscreen Mechanical Takeoff Software preferred.
