About the position

The Senior Estimator position at Wanzek Construction involves leading large conceptual EPC bids, where the candidate's experience is crucial for developing accurate estimates. This role encompasses all aspects of RFP requirements, proposal strategies, contracting strategies, and risk management for significant projects. The position is flexible in terms of location and requires collaboration across departments to foster innovation and ensure a respectful work environment.

Responsibilities

• Listen to directions and suggestions from supervisors regarding safe and proper work practices and implement a plan based on that evaluation.
• Read and understand company policies and procedures applicable to assigned tasks.
• Develop a complete understanding of applicable company policies and procedures and execute assigned work accordingly.
• Examine office conditions and procedures to identify problems and cost-saving measures.
• Inspect subordinate's work for accuracy and compliance with company policies, providing corrective action as needed.
• Produce quality work that meets company policies and industry standards.
• Identify workplace hazards and take corrective action to minimize them.
• Understand and respond appropriately to safety hazards and warning devices.
• Manage available bid time to ensure accurate and timely preparation of estimates.
• Perform complete conceptual estimates for large, complex EPC projects from bid package receipt to final bid review.
• Organize and detail estimates for clarity and efficiency in turnover to field personnel.
• Maintain professionalism and ethical behavior when representing Wanzek to clients and vendors.
• Train other employees in the estimating department and oversee bid teams for large projects.
• Supervise and line out all people on the bid team when designated as Lead Estimator.

Requirements

• High school diploma plus related training or education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of 7 years of construction estimating experience.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and construction management.
• Knowledge of various contract types including EPC, DB, and JV.
• Experience in contract negotiations and working with various vendors and clients.
• Experience in leading bids on a regular basis.
