About the position

The Sr. Estimator will be responsible for delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality estimates for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities. This role involves managing all aspects of estimate development, including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality. The Sr. Estimator will conduct thorough bid analyses, develop project plans, and present estimates to leadership and clients, demonstrating a high level of competency in all components of the estimate. The position requires effective communication, independent work, and the ability to mentor junior estimators.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Work Procedures.
  • Manage assigned projects from inception to contract execution with support from the Estimating Manager.
  • Manage client relationships and collaborate with Business Development to ensure proposals meet client expectations.
  • Lead proposal kick-offs and assign/manage all key deliverables from engineering, estimating, and pre-construction.
  • Lead weekly internal and external engineering, contracting, and pricing meetings to ensure deliverables are completed on time.
  • Manage meeting minutes, pre-construction division of responsibility, and project action tracker.
  • Work with site investigation team to perform site visits and evaluate site investigation reports.
  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering subcontractor and vendor proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates.
  • Review and confirm quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Generate and review project schedules; engineering, procurement, construction, and client deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication between Primoris and Client tax groups to finalize tax strategy for the project.
  • Perform risk review and develop risk register with lead estimator.
  • Assist in contract review process and communicate with clients on redlines.
  • Assist with transition from the Pre-Construction phase to the Construction phase.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant Construction/Project Management and/or Estimating experience.
  • College graduate with a relevant degree.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (WinEst, B2W or similar), take-off software (On-Screen Takeoff or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
  • Project Management proficiency: scheduling, cost management, client management.
