About the position

The Senior Examiner position at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) involves overseeing the supervisory efforts for large and complex financial institutions. This role is critical in assessing risks and improving the financial condition of these institutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining cooperative relationships with various supervisory agencies. The position requires frequent travel and offers opportunities for professional growth within a competitive federal service environment.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and conducts bank supervision and examination functions to assess risk and improve the condition of assigned organizations.
  • Maintains an informed position on assigned organizations and analyzes financial information filed or reported according to regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts ongoing analysis of the financial condition, business initiatives, and future prospects of assigned organizations to assess potential risks to the Deposit Insurance Fund.
  • Reviews developments applicable to insured financial institutions, including accounting, reporting, and regulatory changes.
  • Prepares written reports summarizing analysis results and communicates findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicates effectively with financial institution management to address questions and resolve inquiries in line with FDIC protocols.
  • Initiates and leads conferences or meetings with other supervisory agencies and bank officials.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience in reviewing supervisory matters or examining large, complex, or troubled financial institutions using credit appraisal procedures and techniques.
  • Must be a Commissioned Risk Examiner in the FDIC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial institution supervisory methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of economics and finance, including financial databases and software.
  • Skill in preparing written products under time pressures for diverse audiences.
