About the position

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for planning, promoting, and developing aquatic programming for individuals of all ages, which includes swim classes, aquatic programs, and special aquatic events. This role involves overseeing swim instructors and providing aquatic instruction, ensuring that all programs are executed effectively and safely. The Aquatics Coordinator will assist in supervising Head Lifeguards and Lifeguards, ensuring that all aquatic staff are well-trained and adhere to safety protocols. In this position, the Aquatics Coordinator will coordinate instructional swimming classes and aquatic programs, as well as special events related to aquatics. They will assist with the supervision of personnel who carry out these swimming classes and programs, which may include soliciting contract instructors to teach classes for the Town of Flower Mound. The Coordinator will also disseminate information about aquatic programs to patrons, ensuring that the community is well-informed about available offerings. The role includes various administrative tasks necessary for the successful operation of aquatic programs, such as managing the operation and maintenance of the pools, controlling and requisitioning aquatic equipment and supplies, and enforcing policies and procedures for the aquatics program. The Aquatics Coordinator will support other areas within the Parks and Recreation Division by assisting with special events, recreational programs, facility rentals, and coverage issues in the absence of staff. Additionally, they will serve as the Manager on Duty at the Community Activity Center during scheduled nights and weekends, preparing and submitting reports on participant attendance, expenses, and revenue. The Aquatics Coordinator will also be responsible for inputting, updating, and monitoring all aquatic-related courses in the class system, maintaining waitlists, course rosters, and accounts payable. They must adhere to personnel, safety, and departmental policies and procedures of the Town, assist co-workers and other departments as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates instructional swimming classes, aquatic programs, and aquatic special events.
  • Assists with the supervision of personnel who carry out swimming classes and aquatic programs; solicits contract instructors to teach classes and programs for the Town of Flower Mound.
  • Disseminates aquatic program information to patrons.
  • Assists in supervision of aquatic staff, including Water Safety Instructors, Head Lifeguards, and Lifeguards; supervision includes scheduling, hiring/termination, discipline, and ongoing training and in-services.
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks necessary for successful aquatic program operations.
  • Assists with managing the operation and maintenance of the pools.
  • Assists with the distribution, control, and requisitioning of aquatic equipment and supplies and class supplies.
  • Recommends and enforces policies and procedures for the aquatics program.
  • Supports other areas within the Parks and Recreation Division by assisting with special events, recreational programs, facility rentals, and facility coverage issues in the absence of staff.
  • Serves as Manager on Duty at the Community Activity Center on nights and weekends as scheduled.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education or related field is required.
  • Must possess current CPR/First Aid, Lifeguard, and Water Safety Instructor Certifications.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
  • Over one year of experience in coordinating an aquatics program is required.
