About the position

The Senior Executive Communications Officer at PCORI will enhance the visibility and reputation of the organization's executive leaders by developing and executing a comprehensive executive outreach and visibility strategy. This role involves crafting distinct messaging for each senior leader, managing thought leadership opportunities, and ensuring alignment with PCORI's overall communications strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive executive visibility strategy for PCORI's leadership.
  • Craft distinct 'executive voices' for each senior leader, aligning messaging with their expertise and PCORI's mission.
  • Identify and manage thought leadership opportunities for executives, including media interviews and conference appearances.
  • Lead media training and outreach for PCORI executives, including preparing them for interviews and managing media inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain media lists related to executive outreach and prepare briefing materials for media interviews.
  • Monitor PCORI's funded research and media coverage for executive visibility opportunities.
  • Collaborate with media relations to align executive communications with broader media strategies.
  • Research emerging trends in healthcare research to position executives as experts.
  • Collaborate on social media strategies for executives, including content creation and engagement tactics.
  • Provide executive speechwriting support and collaborate on internal communications materials.
  • Supervise staff, interns, or contractors as assigned and monitor performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in executive communications within health or health research sectors.
  • Strong media relations experience with an established network of media contacts.
  • Experience working effectively with C-suite executives and developing executive visibility campaigns.
  • Proven ability to anticipate trends and pivot communications strategies as needed.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with media monitoring platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public speaking coaching and media training.
  • Familiarity with standard style manuals (e.g., AP, AMA).
  • Experience managing staff, contractors, and freelancers.

  • Salary range of $139,142 - $173,928 based on experience and qualifications.
