About the position

The Senior Executive Director, Office of Teaching & Learning, serves as the principal advisor to the Deputy State Superintendent and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating teaching and learning initiatives across Maryland. This role ensures that all students receive effective instructional programming and supports the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future and the multi-year strategic plan of the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations and ensure the smooth execution of key priorities.
• Serve as a liaison with staff leading the management and implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future.
• Lead and manage high-profile projects, ensuring alignment with OTL's goals and timelines.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion.
• Stay updated on policies, regulations, and legal interpretations, consulting with general counsel as necessary.
• Provide customized support to associates and staff reporting to the Deputy Superintendent.
• Support the development of OTL offices' budgets and monitor account spending.
• Collaborate with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to support data analysis and school improvement.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or equivalent post-baccalaureate coursework in Curriculum and Instruction, Administration, Education, or related areas.
• Six years of experience in educational leadership with expertise in curriculum development, coaching, and program administration.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience in leading early childhood through grade 12 education programs at the state or district level.
• Experience with federal, state, and local education policies and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-profile projects involving cross-functional teams.
