About the position

As a Senior Executive Underwriter in the Wholesale Property division at Navigators, a Brand of The Hartford, you will play a pivotal role in underwriting, servicing, and expanding a profitable book of Excess and Surplus (E&S) Property business. This position requires collaboration with a diverse range of wholesale brokers, focusing on various segments of E&S property, including full limits, primary, excess, and quota share basis. Your expertise will encompass underwriting named perils, all risks, and single catastrophe-related risks across multiple classes such as habitational, light manufacturing, mixed real estate, and other E&S-related classes. In this role, you will be at the forefront of decision-making, utilizing your analytical skills and critical thinking to assess risks and develop tailored coverage solutions for our clients. You will be expected to maintain a customer-first mindset, ensuring that our clients' needs are prioritized in every decision made. Your ability to build and nurture relationships with both internal and external partners will be crucial in driving success and fostering a collaborative work environment. Responsibilities

  • Underwrite, service, and grow a profitable book of E&S Property business.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of wholesale brokers to provide tailored coverage solutions.
  • Analyze data and employ critical thinking skills to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills in all interactions.
  • Manage time effectively and demonstrate strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
  • Challenge the status quo and contribute to innovative solutions within the underwriting process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3+ years of Commercial Property underwriting experience; E&S Property underwriting experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working within the wholesale distribution channel preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think analytically about business problems and propose solutions.
  • High energy self-starter with resilience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on delivering outcomes.
  • Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
