About the position

All Native Group is seeking a Senior Exposure Assessment Specialist to support the US Department of State in Washington, DC. The MEDSAFE program, established through the Bureau of Medical Services Division of Occupational Health and Wellness (OHW), is designed to identify, evaluate, and document site-specific occupational and environmental exposure risks to DOS employees by post, facility and/or operation. In addition, through this program OHW will establish an OEH monitoring system to document and track employee exposures during tenure (Individual Longitudinal Exposure Record - ILER). Lastly, the MEDSAFE program is established to treat, monitor, and mitigate any long-term health consequences related to employment with Department of State. The Exposure Assessment Specialist provides substantive expertise and support for identifying global sources of environmental data (e.g., air and water quality, indoor contaminants, infectious diseases, food safety, solid waste management) and analyzing data to characterize human exposures to environmental hazards spatially and temporally. The incumbent participates in applying scientific evidence to develop the ILER database as well as formulating, implementing, and evaluating policy and procedures to mitigate health risks based on the exposure estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies environmental data sources, analyzes and summarizes data, as well as identifies trends.
  • Reviews and evaluates scientific studies to produce appropriate metrics to estimate human exposures and assess hazards to human health.
  • Participates in creating and maintaining appropriate databases to track all pertinent information.
  • Prepares reports and data visualizations to describe and communicate environmental data and human exposures via multi-media platforms.
  • Conducts indoor and outdoor environmental monitoring studies, including gathering and analyzing data.
  • Collaborates with all programs within Department of State to promote occupational safety and health, engage management in incorporating safety in all aspects of operations.

Requirements

  • Five years' experience in a similar function.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Masters or Doctorate highly desirable.
  • A Secret clearance is required; top secret preferred.
