About the position

The Senior Facility Design Engineer at Momentive Technologies will play a crucial role in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities. This position is pivotal in managing ongoing and future expansion projects, ensuring that new facilities are set up efficiently and effectively. The Senior Facility Engineer will oversee daily activities related to assigned projects, ensuring strict adherence to site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements, and will be responsible for providing regular updates on project status to relevant team members and management. In this role, the engineer will take ownership of the planning and execution of capital investment projects, extending their responsibility from individual project execution to managing groups of projects within designated plant areas. This includes mentoring, training, and providing guidance to other site project leaders and support members. The engineer will be proficient in gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports to ensure the successful delivery of project objectives concerning scope, schedule, budget, and cash flow. Daily activities must align with overall project priorities, and the engineer will work rigorously to complete project deliverables. The Senior Facility Engineer will also be responsible for understanding and complying with all site EHS and engineering standards, contributing innovative ideas to improve safety, promote efficiency, reduce costs, and increase performance. They will develop facility and infrastructure standards across multiple sites and engage with operational teams and internal customers to ensure satisfaction with agreed objectives. Collaboration with all levels of the operational team, from floor staff to management, is essential to gather input on project objectives and leverage opportunities based on historical challenges. Additionally, the engineer will manage project-related programs to support the investment process across the site and will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of the overall investment process. Active participation in the development of their own engineering skills, functional competencies, and personal effectiveness is also a key aspect of this role. Building and maintaining key supplier and contractor relationships will be vital for consistent and reliable project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for ongoing/future expansion projects infrastructure and facility layout
  • Overall leadership and ownership for planning and execution of capital investment projects
  • Managing groups of projects in designated plant areas through mentoring, training, and guidance to other site project leaders
  • Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports
  • Delivery of assigned project objectives for scope, schedule, budget, and cash flow
  • Ensuring daily activities are aligned with overall project priorities
  • Understanding and complying with all site EHS and engineering standards
  • Contributing innovative ideas to improve safety, promote efficiency, reduce cost, and increase performance
  • Development of facility and infrastructure standards throughout multiple sites
  • Engaging with operational teams and other internal customers to ensure satisfaction of agreed objectives
  • Collaborating with all levels of the operational team to gather input on project objectives
  • Managing project-related programs to support the investment process across the site
  • Supporting continuous improvement of the overall investment process

  • Developing and maintaining key supplier/contractor relationships for project execution

Requirements

  • Experience designing and creating facility layouts
  • Experience working with contractors
  • Experience in managing projects and building expansions
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD drawing systems
  • BS degree in engineering with a preference for Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a manufacturing work environment
  • Strong leadership and motivation skills within all layers of the business
  • Confident communications, both written and verbal
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Proven organization and teamwork skills within a manufacturing environment
