About the position

The Senior Factory Controls Engineer oversees the production readiness of in-use equipment to ensure the business unit's requirements are met for production use. The Engineer will support operations' maintenance, quality, and production personnel in the troubleshooting of functional problems and guide maintenance activities to eliminate functionality issues of equipment and systems throughout the entire Indianapolis campus. Must be willing to work 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to 5 plants at the Indianapolis campus for all Engineering related matters that cannot be solved at the plant-level
  • Use extensive knowledge and experience in a variety of Engineering disciplines to provide guidance to hourly job setters, skilled trades, and Engineers on managing machine performance breakdowns
  • Support continuous improvement activities within all production processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or associate's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years' experience as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, both in troubleshooting and design.
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and support of industrial control systems that perform control, monitoring, data acquisition, logging, and alarming functions.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PAC/PLC control systems.
  • Experience with Siemens PAC, PLC/CNC controls systems.
  • Experience with Fanuc CNC controls systems.
  • Experience with programming of Allen-Bradley HMIs.
  • Experience with device communication networks including Allen-Bradley DH+, Device Net, RIO, Ethernet IP, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic experience with leak testing methodologies and systems.
  • Experience with large drive systems, specifically Allen-Bradley and Unico.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Cisco industrial networking.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Siemens CNC Control Systems.
  • Experience with Fanuc robotics programming.
  • Experience with vision systems used in manufacturing processes.
  • RFID system experience, specifically Balluff.
  • Knowledge of best practices in automotive and equipment manufacturing.
