About the position

GQ is seeking an experienced Senior Features Editor to lead the editorial direction of longform storytelling across its platforms. This role involves pitching, assigning, and editing a variety of feature stories, including cultural profiles and investigative reporting, while collaborating with a diverse group of freelance writers and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in feature editing and a passion for innovative journalism.

Responsibilities

• Assign and edit print feature stories, digital-first long-form features, and more.
• Lead story conception, including developing staff and freelance pitches and working closely with talent and visuals teams.
• Coordinate with global editions to help develop features across different global markets.
• Help develop story ideas for GQ Studios, our film, television, and documentary studio.
• Work closely with Global Content Development Director and senior editorial team to program print issues.
• Collaborate with Site Director to develop ambitious digital-first projects.
• Shepherd stories through the editing process, liaising with copy, research, production, art, and photo departments.
• Contribute to and help lead editorial ideas meetings.
• Top edit stories as needed.
• Manage global features team.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• 7+ years of complex feature editing experience; familiarity with InCopy/K4 a plus.
• Experience editing celebrity-driven profiles and reporting.
• Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Deep connections with freelance writers.
• Enthusiasm and passion for GQ.
