About the position

The position involves providing engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations within Corning's Optical Communications segment. The role focuses on solving technical and engineering-related problems, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technologies or improvements in existing processes. The goal is to enhance product quality and reduce costs while ensuring safety and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations
• Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
• Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues
• Develop mechanical solutions and process changes to control and eliminate manufacturing issues
• Lead projects involving cost reduction, equipment optimization, and new products/processes development
• Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects
• Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment
• Identify chronic failure modes or issues and recommend corrective actions
• Provide leadership or support for startup of new equipment lines
• Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
• Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other technical field
• Rigorous and creative/innovative problem solving
• Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills
• Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
• The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
• Can establish a broad network across the engineering and technology organizations
• Good verbal/written communication and presentation skills
