About the position

The Senior Field Safety Specialist is responsible for detecting, preventing, and mitigating safety risks within the organization. This role provides subject matter expertise on field observations and offers consultation and guidance on developing corrective actions. The specialist collaborates with various lines of business to address safety issues, communicates safety trends, and recommends corrective actions. The position is primarily field-based, requiring 75% of the time spent in the field, with occasional travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and driver observations.
  • Periodically support the review of Supervisor's Incident Analysis Packet (SIAP).
  • Support the accident investigation team as a subject matter expert to help determine causal factors.
  • Lead the causal analysis portion of investigations as needed.
  • Ensure mutual collaboration with the line of business and integrate safety practices at all levels of the organization.
  • Perform technical safety regulatory gap analyses for High-Risk Projects.
  • Communicate safety trends and recommend safety corrective actions.
  • Coach line of business supervisors on new safety programs.
  • Serve as a safety subject matter expert for line of business supervisors and field employees.
  • Consult with line of business supervisors on incident investigations, SIAP completion, and corrective action development.
  • Attend Safety Kickoffs or morning meetings with crews to discuss new safety information.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a safety professional certification (e.g., ASP, CHST, CUSP, OHST) within 1 year of job placement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or a related discipline.
  • Safety professional certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, CHMM).
