About the position

As a Senior Field Service Engineer at ABB, you will play a crucial role in executing service work of medium to high complexity, adhering to ABB guidelines and work instructions. Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction, and identifying opportunities to enhance system and operational performance. You will engage directly with customers, understanding their needs and expectations, and work collaboratively to meet them. This position is integral to the Electrification Smart Power division, where you will contribute to the development and implementation of energy distribution solutions for various sectors, including data centers and critical infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing service work according to customer orders, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. You will also be tasked with maintaining customer retention by providing a superior customer experience, which includes clear communication regarding service timelines and expectations. Additionally, you will identify new service business opportunities in collaboration with customers and other ABB teams, further enhancing the company's service offerings. Your leadership skills will be put to use as you coach technicians and engineers, supervising complex site activities to ensure high standards of service delivery. Responsibilities

  • Execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers.
  • Identify opportunities in the installed base to improve system performance and operational performance.
  • Plan and execute service work according to customer orders and expectations.
  • Ensure customer retention by delivering superior customer experience and effectively communicating service work timelines and expectations.
  • Identify new service business opportunities for ABB in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams.
  • Coach technicians and engineers and supervise complex site activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar with 5+ years of experience, or an Associate's Degree with 7+ years of experience in servicing critical power equipment.
  • Broad experience in Field Service or a related role, focusing on Critical Power Systems (Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Power Distribution, Static Switch, Battery, and Power Conditioning Systems).
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training preferred.
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training preferred.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., NETA, NICET, CompTIA, ABB, APC, Eaton, Schneider Electric, etc.) preferred.
  • Candidates must have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with energy-efficient UPS solutions.
  • Familiarity with ABB Ability Energy Manager platform.
