As a Senior Field Service Engineer at ABB, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality switchgear systems that meet various operational modes, including open transition, closed transition, peak shave, load shed, load add, and balance of plant. Your primary responsibility will be to lead site deliverables for our customers, ensuring that all project milestones are met while maintaining a clear and organized schedule. You will document any changes in project scope and any delays encountered on-site, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure seamless communication and project execution. In this position, you will lead a diverse team of professionals, including switchgear engineers, power delivery field engineers, generator technicians, and electrical contractors. Your leadership will be essential in guiding the commissioning team through the complexities of the project, ensuring that all team members are aligned with the project goals and timelines. You will also maintain a close interface with the product engineering team to discuss project scope, system sequences of operation, and any necessary field modifications. Your role will also involve the completion of various project and daily reports, which will include short-duration safety plans, field service reports, redlines, and method of procedure documentation. Adherence to all safety requirements is paramount, and you will be responsible for ensuring that all team members comply with these standards. Given the nature of the role, you should be prepared for extensive travel, with expectations of at least 80% travel time to various project sites.
