About the position

The Senior Finance Manager - Azure deals and Cloud Economics role at Microsoft is a pivotal position within the Cloud Economics and Strategic Partnerships Team. This role is responsible for leading significant Azure deals and projects, focusing on developing competitive strategies and business cases that foster long-term partnerships across various industries. The position requires a blend of technical, financial, and business acumen to create financial models and business cases that address complex IT environments and cloud migration strategies. The manager will also serve as a subject matter expert in cloud economics, ensuring compliance with company policies and driving corrective measures when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with the Field, Field Finance, Business Development, and Engineering to develop cloud business cases/financial models for strategic customers.
  • Engaging with internal and external executives to articulate the outcome of financial analyses, simplifying complex analyses to clarify cloud partnership terms and financial outcomes.
  • Guiding healthy Azure partnerships by collaborating with Business Development, Strategic Sales, Engineering, and other teams.
  • Leading customer discussions and finding creative ways to maximize the probability of winning deals, focusing on ROI and controlled risks.
  • Developing robust financial models to evaluate complex transactions and determine negotiation guardrails.
  • Guiding approval processes with Microsoft executives and articulating deals business cases.
  • Developing frameworks to accelerate, simplify, and scale Azure's deal-making process.
  • Defining competitive strategy, influencing sales policies, and shaping the product roadmap.
  • Continuously learning about Microsoft Cloud services, infrastructure, operations, go-to-market strategies, and long-term cloud economics.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring the accuracy of financial documents and business processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 2+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, enabling simple communication of complex topics.
  • Analytical skills and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with demonstrated results in driving high-value project outcomes.
  • Ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back when required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • High level of self-motivation and resourcefulness.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $94,600 - $200,500 per year based on location and experience.
