About the position

The Senior Manager Finance is a pivotal role within Ryder System Inc., responsible for overseeing the analytical review of all Finance and Accounting Support functions for a major field operation. This includes critical areas such as Inventory Management and Control, Financial Analysis and Planning, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing. The Senior Finance Manager will serve as the financial check and balance as Ryder makes customer commitments, ensuring that all financial operations align with the company's strategic goals and objectives. In this role, the Senior Finance Manager will conduct thorough analytical reviews and implement corrective actions as necessary. This involves reviewing financial and operational results, comparing actual results to rated contracts, plans, and forecasts, and acting as a financial advisor to General Managers and their teams. The position also entails financial coordination of contracts, which includes negotiations and new account startups, matching financial risks and rewards, establishing cost controls and billing procedures, and developing customer reporting processes. Financial reporting is another key responsibility, where the Senior Finance Manager will ensure the financial integrity of location results and facilitate coordination between headquarters and field operations. Additionally, the role requires monthly forecasting and annual planning to support the financial health of the organization. The Senior Finance Manager will also perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the finance team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Review financial and operational results.
  • Compare actual results to rated contracts, plans, and forecasts.
  • Act as a financial advisor to General Managers and teams.
  • Coordinate financial aspects of contracts, including negotiations and new account startups.
  • Match financial risks and rewards for contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Seven or more years of experience managing Finance and Accounting functions required.
  • Functional knowledge of WMS systems at an intermediate level required.
  • Working understanding of Supply Chain Management and logistics processes at an intermediate level required.
  • Advanced computer/spreadsheet knowledge (Excel) at an advanced level required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
