The Senior Financial Analyst, Clinical Research at George Washington University is a pivotal role within the GWCC Clinical Trials Office, primarily responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of clinical trials. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) finance team and the GWU Office of Clinical Research (GWOCR) to ensure compliance with fiscal and administrative requirements essential for supporting cancer clinical trials. The analyst will play a crucial role in monitoring funds flow, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and improving research billing procedures. This includes managing the financial planning and productivity tracking associated with clinical trials, as well as assisting in the development of documentation for compliance reporting. In this role, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for monitoring revenue generated from clinical trials, ensuring accurate accounting and appropriate usage of funds. The analyst will assist with monthly billing and invoicing for funded clinical trials, verifying financial data for accuracy and completeness, and ensuring conformance with clinical trial study budgets. This includes tracking payments and addressing any issues that arise, as well as monitoring outstanding invoices to reduce accounts receivable balances. The analyst will also interpret financial requirements and billable items on clinical trial protocols, conducting Coverage Analysis and negotiating budgets with sponsors to ensure compliance with federal guidelines. The position requires the analyst to enter financial information into the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) to maintain billing compliance and proper reimbursement. Additionally, the analyst will coordinate the budget process with other staff to ensure timely execution of compliant budgets as part of clinical trial agreements. The role also involves assisting GW investigators in resolving research-related billing issues and contributing to the development and enhancement of projects related to clinical research finance. The Senior Financial Analyst will be expected to assist in the orientation of new employees regarding financial management of studies and maintain proper storage of clinical trial contracts. Negotiation skills are essential, as the analyst may need to challenge claims made by sponsors and advocate for appropriate funding for the GW Cancer Center.
