About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst at the University of Pennsylvania plays a crucial role in the Division of Finance, focusing on external financial reporting and performance analysis. Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements and related disclosures/footnotes for the University.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP through detailed review of complex accounting rules and their application to transactions.
  • Prepares formal analysis for executive management to communicate business trends and issues to the Board of Directors.
  • Conducts highly technical accounting/reporting research and recommends critical accounting decisions.
  • Implements monthly financial accounting closing procedures and related internal controls.
  • Oversees ongoing financial support to a school or center, preparing routine reports and ad-hoc analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced command of Excel functions and experience with financial analyses.
  • Knowledge of journal entries, financial reporting, and general accounting concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA credentials preferred.
  • Experience with database structure and data manipulation for financial reporting.
